-:Join me here each week to find out how.
-:This week the podcast is all about friendships.
-:You've probably heard that old saying, friends come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
-:Well, until today I didn't know that that line was from a poem, and you know I love a poem, so hang on a hot sec and I'll
-:read it to you, but first here are a few of my thoughts.
-:Which friendships are you putting energy into right now? Are they the right ones?
-:Is there plenty of give and take in those friendships?
-:Is there love or affection for each other?
-:Do you come away from interactions feeling better than you did before?
-:Someone who I used to consider a really good friend once told me I had too many other friends and I shouldn't make any more new ones.
-:I should consider myself fully booked on the friendship front.
-:As I speak this memory out loud, I realize that it's no surprise that I'm no longer friends with her.
-:In my late thirties, I thought I probably had all the friends I was ever going to make, and my 40th birthday celebration felt
-:so perfect with everyone I really loved in one place, but I had no idea about the gift around the corner, the gift of sober friendships.
-:I'm going to talk more about that next week.
-:Look out for the Sober Socials episode.
-:But for now, here's that poem I promised you, a reason, a season, or lifetime.
-:People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
-:When you figure out which one it is, you will know what to do for each person.
-:When someone is in your life for a reason, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
-:They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually.
-:They may seem like a godsend, and they are.
-:They are there for a reason you need them to be.
-:Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
-:Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
-:What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done.
-:The prayer you sent up has been answered, answered, and now it is time to move on.
-:Then people come into your life for a season because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
-:They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
-:They may teach you something you have never done.
-:They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it.
-:It is real, but only for a season.
-:Lifetime relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
-:Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
-:It is said that love is blind, but friendship is clairvoyant. Poet unknown.
-:Check out the show notes on this podcast or any other episode.
-:You'll find details about the Drink Less, Live Better 2023 retreat.
-:You'll see the link to a hidden podcast episode to help you with your 5 PM cravings, and you'll be able to read about my one to one coaching programme.
-:I'd love it if you could follow and download the podcast, and if you feel inclined to leave a review, that would be lovely as well. Thank you for listening in today.
-:Come back again next week, and, PS, I believe in you.
