43. She let go

The theme of my week is 'letting go' - funny how one phrase or idea pops up over and over again - must mean something mustn't it?

-:

less doesn't need to be stressful, lonely, or boring. I'm your host, Sarah Williamson, and I decided to have a year alcohol

-:

free as a little life experiment and haven't looked back. With my experience and training, I now help other women with their

-:

alcohol free or drink less adventures. You can find out more about me and sign up to my 5 day drink less challenge at drink

-:

less live better dot com. I'm here to tell you that you can relax, connect and have fun without alcohol in your life. Join

-:

me here each week to find out how. This week, I've had a bit of a theme going on. I couldn't ordinarily tell you that I have

-:

a theme in my week, but this week has been conversation after conversation and coincidences of letting go. One of the significant

-:

conversations was with my friend, Sonia. She had asked me, how did I begin letting go? And it was a bigger question, but it

-:

was about lots of smaller subjects. It was about how I had begun to let go of alcohol, how I had begun to let go of other

-:

people's expectations about my behaviour and how I had made peace with that. A couple of days later, my friend Kirsty did

-:

a Facebook live, and on her Facebook live, she recorded the poem she let go by the Reverend Sapphire Rose. And this is a poem

-:

that had popped up on my Facebook memories, last week, because I'd posted it this time last year. It's one of my absolute

-:

favorites. I've got it saved as a photo on my phone, but I also regularly listen to it in the same way that Kirsty does, and

-:

that is the version of it that's on Insight Timer if that's an app that you use. Anyway, I'm going to read it to you now.

-:

She let go. She let go. She let go. Without a thought or a word, she let go. She let go of the fear. She let go of the judgments.

-:

She let go of the confluence of opinions swarming around her head. She let go of the committee of indecision within her. She

-:

let go of all the right reasons wholly and completely without hesitation or worry. She just let go. She didn't ask anyone

-:

for advice. She didn't read a book on how to let go. She didn't search the scriptures. She just let go. She let go of all

-:

of the memories that held her back. She let go of all of the anxiety that kept her from moving forward. She let go of the

-:

planning and all of the calculations about how to do it just right. She didn't promise to let go. She didn't journal about

-:

it. She didn't write the projected date in her day timer. She made no public announcement and put no ad in the paper. She

-:

didn't check the weather report or read her daily horoscope, she just let go. She didn't analyse whether she should let go.

-:

She didn't call her friends to discuss the matter. She didn't do a 5 step spiritual mind treatment. She didn't call the prayer

-:

line. She didn't utter one word. She just let go. No one was around when it happened. There was no applause or congratulations.

-:

No one thanked her or praised her. No one noticed a thing. Like a leaf falling from a tree, she just let go. There was no

-:

effort. There was no struggle. It wasn't good, and it wasn't bad. It was what it was, and it is just that. In the space of

-:

letting go she let it all be. A small smile came over her face, a light breeze blew through her, and the sun and the moon

-:

shone forevermore. Thank you for listening in to this episode of the podcast. Please listen in again next week. Thank you.

-:

And, PS, I believe in you.

About the Podcast

Drink Less; Live Better
Drinking Less isn't stressful, lonely or boring - let me show you the ways to relax, connect and have fun without alcohol in your life
THIS is the magic place where doubt, hope and action meet!

Let's find JOY and COLOUR on the other side of alcohol!

We don't have to hit rock bottom, we're allowed to want something different and we CAN choose to improve our lives from this point onwards.

Sarah was 40 and reconsidering her relationship with alcohol.

She was tired and overwhelmed; she'd got a lot on her mind and a glass of wine or a G and T at the end of the day seemed like a treat or escape but... deep down she knew she wasn't doing herself any favours with this habit.

Are you thinking about drinking less? Sarah brings you tips, advice, motivation and believes that the changes we bring into our lives when we choose to be alcohol free are worth celebrating and shouting about (she also believes in YOU)!

Sarah Williamson retired from drinking alcohol in 2019 and now uses her extensive coaching and mentoring experience to help and support others to do the same!
