Hello, darling heart, and welcome to the drink less, live better podcast.

-:I'm your host, Sarah Williamson, and I decided to have a year alcohol free as a little life experiment and haven't looked back.

-:Over the course of a day, we have around 60,000 thoughts.
-:When I read this, I thought, oh, wow. Interesting. So few. No. Of course, I didn't. I have no idea how many.
-:I couldn't even have tried to guess.
-:If you'd have told me a number between 6,06100,000, I wouldn't have been able to agree or disagree.
-:All I know is the answer to how many thoughts do we have in a day. It's a lot.
-:The internal thoughts we have are going to be different for everyone.
-:Mine consists of my mental to do list, my thoughts around my day, my family, my friends, my professional life, and my home,
-:my emotions, new ideas, old ideas, things to look forward to, things I'm reflecting on, what am I doing, who am I being, What
-:I want next, and what I am sharing with others. I talk to myself.
-:I give myself little pep chats, and I also tell myself off. I talk down to myself. I cannot do this. It's too hard. They won't like what I've written. It's not good enough. My voice is too annoying. No one will listen. It's not worth the effort. No one will see the value. There's no point starting. It's not guaranteed to work out.
-:Once I start down this spiral, it's quite easy to keep going down.
-:One thought seems to fuel the next and the next.
-:I've learned that the sooner I can stop a thought spiral, the less damage it does.
-:As soon as I notice an I'm not good enough pattern, I stop and think to myself, oh, hang on. There it is.
-:Let's have a closer look at that.
-:Noticing and accepting is so powerful in itself.
-:Every day the most important person we talk to is ourselves.
-:I really believe that who you are becoming is directly influenced by what you are thinking and saying to yourself.
-:Let's think about drinking for a moment. I cannot stop drinking now.
-:My friends will think I've got a problem with alcohol.
-:Being alcohol free will be too hard.
-:Choosing a sober life sounds like it will be miserable. I wasn't that bad.
-:I could just carry on and only drink at weekends perhaps.
-:There's no point in starting with this. I'll probably fail.
-:Choose new beliefs, emotionally connect to them, and then transformation happens.
-:Let's try this on for size instead.
-:I'm choosing new ways of relaxing and socialising.
-:My choice not to drink is a powerful one.
-:I am in control of my actions.
-:I will make progress my on my alcohol free journey. My success is in my hands. I am taking inspired action.
-:Remember that if you do the same as you've always done you'll always get the same results, So if now is the moment to think again, then do that.
