-:

Here we are in the new year, welcome to 2023.

-:

I'm not sure that I'm more qualified to welcome you here than the next person, but no matter here I am.

-:

Let's pretend I'm on the doorstep of this new time, place and energy.

-:

I'm here to tell you that we can thank 20 22 for all it gave us, kiss it into the past and choose to softly move our gaze forward.

-:

Now, I'm the first person to say I do not love a New Year's resolution, I'm also not big on thinking of massive goals to achieve or really even intention setting.

-:

I do, however, have a few winter activities I like to look at ready for thinking about the year ahead.

-:

Now, first of all I'd like to point out that none of this has to start on the 1st January or indeed in January at all.

-:

A year ahead is a massive 12 months of possibility and sometimes when we try to force something to happen on or from a particular

-:

date we're met with resistance and it doesn't happen and then we get deflated.

-:

So I urge you if here we are on the 4th or 5th or 6th January having not quite started the thing that we set out to do, that's okay.

-:

Probably one of the biggest experiments or challenges I ever set myself was to stop drinking and my start date for that ended up being the 8th December.

-:

There's nothing special at all about the 8th December, it was just the right time for that particular thing to kick off for

-:

me, and I'm so glad it did.

-:

Don't think about whatever it is that you want to bring into your life having to last all year long.

-:

Just start it for today, perhaps for this week, perhaps for the rest of this month and see how you go.

-:

If you've got a list of things that you'd like to achieve please don't think that you have to start them all at the beginning

-:

of the year maybe it's really worth spreading your year into quarters or months?

-:

Think about something you might like to add in in January, something you might like to take out in February.

-:

Make your year a holistic year of different achievements, goals, ambitions, whatever it is that you want for the end of the

-:

year, you'll end up in a better place if you've done plenty of bits of the different things and aren't getting worried about achieving none of the things.

-:

Have a think about who you really want to be and then break that down into monthly ambitions as well.

-:

It is okay to have a long term vision if that's what you really want. Do dream big. Go all in.

-:

If you think that that is gonna be helpful for this you for this year, I'm right behind you. I'm with you all the way. Way.

-:

The final thing I'd like to mention is the year compass.

-:

I know I mentioned this last week, but I will drop the link into the show notes for you again this week.

-:

The year compass is a beautiful reflective tool for the year that has gone before and a lovely way of visioning your upcoming year into life.

-:

I do have a vision board, and it's a vision board that I like to work on over a number of weeks into the new year.

-:

I did my first vision board in 2019, and I always keep them, tucked behind a picture frame in my office.

-:

And I love at the end of the year being able to tick off the things that have worked out really well, but also consider the

-:

things that it's okay to move on into the next year and to consider whether I want more of the same again.

-:

Sometimes adding things in isn't always the way forward. Sometimes taking things out is.

-:

Do check out the show notes on this or any other podcast episode.

-:

You'll see the link to a hidden podcast episode to help you with your 5 PM cravings and you'll be able to read about my one to 1 coaching program. Thank you for listening in today.

-:

Please come back again next week and, p s, I believe in you.

About the Podcast

Drink Less; Live Better
Drinking Less isn't stressful, lonely or boring - let me show you the ways to relax, connect and have fun without alcohol in your life
THIS is the magic place where doubt, hope and action meet!

Let's find JOY and COLOUR on the other side of alcohol!

We don't have to hit rock bottom, we're allowed to want something different and we CAN choose to improve our lives from this point onwards.

Sarah was 40 and reconsidering her relationship with alcohol.

She was tired and overwhelmed; she'd got a lot on her mind and a glass of wine or a G and T at the end of the day seemed like a treat or escape but... deep down she knew she wasn't doing herself any favours with this habit.

Are you thinking about drinking less? Sarah brings you tips, advice, motivation and believes that the changes we bring into our lives when we choose to be alcohol free are worth celebrating and shouting about (she also believes in YOU)!

Sarah Williamson retired from drinking alcohol in 2019 and now uses her extensive coaching and mentoring experience to help and support others to do the same!
