169. What if...

I share resources, wisdom, insights, and glimmers of hope and joy. I hope you enjoy today's episode. Let's get straight to it. What if? What if? What if?

-:

I've been working on a new project, and it has been a challenge.

-:

I've reached the edge of my comfort zone and got very uncomfortable.

-:

I'm putting new words and work out into the world and I know not everyone will like it, and that's okay.

-:

I know I'm not everyone's cup of tea and that's okay too, and like all human beings everywhere I do have a fear of not being liked. Don't worry. Drink less. Live better isn't going anywhere.

-:

Everything around here stays exactly the same. 1 to 1 coaching with my clients is absolutely my joy.

-:

Anyway, I was worrying and I was thinking thoughts like what if I say something that annoys someone?', what if they verbally attack me? What if I offend someone?

-:

What if they tell me I've offended them? What if? What if? What if? And on and on it went.

-:

Our thoughts are made up of so many what if erys and most of them are made up scenarios in the future that won't actually play out.

-:

Our what ifs tend to keep us a bit stuck.

-:

What if I had done something differently?

-:

Or what if something doesn't go how I expect it to, how I want it to, or how I hope it will?

-:

What ifs are a waste of time and energy?

-:

Because the truth is we cannot go back and make alterations nor can we see or control what happens beyond this very moment in front of us.

-:

What ifs hold the power of making us incapable of experiencing the beautiful parts of our immediate reality are right now

-:

and they rob us of being able to live the calm or fun life that we actually crave. What ifs steal our peace'.

-:

When the what if cycle starts the focus is very often on predicting what the outcomes will be, generally in a negative light. Let's give this a test drive.

-:

The thought might be I'm going to do a dry January and then what if I don't enjoy the wedding I've been invited to?

-:

What if my cousin asks why I'm not drinking? What if I get bored?

-:

Or the thought might be, I'm thinking of changing jobs.

-:

What if I cannot find a new job?

-:

What if I don't get an interview?

-:

What if the job doesn't turn out to be what I thought it was?

-:

Or the thought might be, I want to set some boundaries with a family member.

-:

But what if they ask why I'm being odd? What if it feels too awkward?

-:

What if I actually get more peace and calm?

-:

Ah, you see that's a different kind of what ifery isn't it?

-:

What if I actually get more peace and calm if I follow through with this?

-:

Let's do that one again I want to set some boundaries with a family member.

-:

What if I get more peace and calm if I do this?

-:

There we go, using the what if to question and move forward on a positive note, taking a moment to recognize that when used

-:

with a nice intention, what if can be helpful.

-:

We just need to catch it in the right moment.

-:

So about the edge of my comfort zone place I've been in, this week I've been asking myself, what if I put my new work out

-:

into the world and people love it?

-:

What if they see my honesty and admire it?

-:

What if they think pink hair goes perfectly in their normally slightly grey environment? What if they agree with me?

-:

Wild How beautifully things can change, how fabulously we can change things for ourselves.

-:

Drop me an email or a DM this weekend with your what ifery flip story.

-:

Where can you reign in the traditional negative what if and replace it with a wild and joyful one? Thank you for listening in today. Come back again next week. Check out the show notes.

-:

About the Podcast

Drink Less; Live Better
Drinking Less isn't stressful, lonely or boring - let me show you the ways to relax, connect and have fun without alcohol in your life
THIS is the magic place where doubt, hope and action meet!

Let's find JOY and COLOUR on the other side of alcohol!

We don't have to hit rock bottom, we're allowed to want something different and we CAN choose to improve our lives from this point onwards.

Sarah was 40 and reconsidering her relationship with alcohol.

She was tired and overwhelmed; she'd got a lot on her mind and a glass of wine or a G and T at the end of the day seemed like a treat or escape but... deep down she knew she wasn't doing herself any favours with this habit.

Are you thinking about drinking less? Sarah brings you tips, advice, motivation and believes that the changes we bring into our lives when we choose to be alcohol free are worth celebrating and shouting about (she also believes in YOU)!

Sarah Williamson retired from drinking alcohol in 2019 and now uses her extensive coaching and mentoring experience to help and support others to do the same!
