-:

Hello darling heart and welcome to the drink less, live better podcast. This is the podcast that helps you to see that drinking

-:

less doesn't need to be stressful, lonely, or boring. I'm your host, Sarah Williamson, and I decided to have a year alcohol

-:

free as a little life experiment and haven't looked back. With my experience and training, I now help other women with their

-:

alcohol free or drink less adventures. You can find out more about me and sign up to my 5 day drink less challenge at drink

-:

less live better dot com. Things you'll never hear me say part 3. There's no need to cry. There's no need to cry goes in the

-:

same filing pile as you've got this or if I can do this anyone can. Please see previous episodes for more on these. It's the

-:

same filing pile of doom that I try very hard never to use or look at. I also won't say, please don't cry, or crying won't

-:

help, or anything else to try to stop the tears from coming. If we're working together face to face I might at some point

-:

offer you a tissue, or perhaps my sleeve if I haven't got a tissue spare, but I won't try and encourage you to stop crying

-:

or tell you there's no need to cry. Tears are an amazing outward physical expression of our emotions. I've often wondered

-:

why we don't cry more as a society. We laugh and smile easily, and we know that's a sign that we're happy. Why can't we cry

-:

easily to show that we're sad? Did you notice what I said there? We laugh and smile to show we're happy, but are we always

-:

happy when we're doing that, or are we giving other people what they want to see? Do we hide our sadness to make life more

-:

comfortable the bad guys get you down, dry your eyes, I could go on, but it all boils down to the same thing, the denial of

-:

our true feelings. Do you notice your feelings, emotions and responses to them? If something upsets you and the natural reaction

-:

to it feels like a big snotty cry, then don't hold back. Side note here, I know there are people who manage to look elegant

-:

when they cry, but I'm all for authentic ugly crying. I think a good cry needs to run its course to consume you temporarily

-:

and then to slowly blow itself out like a storm coming to an end. To be able to be with someone while you ride that wave of

-:

emotion is a magical thing. To have someone with you who can see you truly express yourself and not encourage you to edit

-:

yourself is powerful beyond measure. Who have you got in your life who you know you can properly cry with, who won't tell

-:

you to get over it or god my absolute worst, man up, who do you feel really safe with? Getting our true feelings out into

-:

words takes a whole load of vulnerability, honesty and bravery. We need to surround ourselves with a magic few people who

-:

can allow us to safely say the words we want to, to express the feelings we are experiencing. There's nothing wrong with crying.

-:

There is sometimes a need to cry. There is sometimes a want to cry. Let's practice welcoming the tears, the true expression

-:

of our sadness emotion. Let them flow and then, when you're good and ready, go for a nice walk, take a bath or let's talk

-:

some more. Thank you so much for listening in today. Let's do it all again next week, and, p s, I believe in you.

About the Podcast

Drink Less; Live Better
Drinking Less isn't stressful, lonely or boring - let me show you the ways to relax, connect and have fun without alcohol in your life
THIS is the magic place where doubt, hope and action meet!

Let's find JOY and COLOUR on the other side of alcohol!

We don't have to hit rock bottom, we're allowed to want something different and we CAN choose to improve our lives from this point onwards.

Sarah was 40 and reconsidering her relationship with alcohol.

She was tired and overwhelmed; she'd got a lot on her mind and a glass of wine or a G and T at the end of the day seemed like a treat or escape but... deep down she knew she wasn't doing herself any favours with this habit.

Are you thinking about drinking less? Sarah brings you tips, advice, motivation and believes that the changes we bring into our lives when we choose to be alcohol free are worth celebrating and shouting about (she also believes in YOU)!

Sarah Williamson retired from drinking alcohol in 2019 and now uses her extensive coaching and mentoring experience to help and support others to do the same!
